Hockey is a small ball game, we can determine the most advantageous arrangement based on the level of play and site conditions. Side pole arrangement, corner pole arrangement. The lights focus-point angle have strict requirements, it is should be less than 65°.

Side pole arrangement: six or eight poles layouts are acceptable. The poles must always situated outside the overrun area as shown in the figures below. The FIH recommend they be ideally sited a minimum of 5m beyond the back-lines and 4m behind the side-lines.

Corner Pole Arrangement:

The pole arrangement should be in the shadow range, and the pole heights should meet the angle between the connection line from the lights to the center of the site and the site plane not less than 25 °.
