Smart Lighting Shines on the SuBA Huai’an Home Court

Project Overview

On the evening of September 4, 2026, Huai’an Sports Center Gymnasium was filled with light and energy as thousands of fans cheered from the stands. In the opening round of the 2026 Jiangsu City Basketball League—known as SuBA—the Huai’an team hosted Taizhou and secured a 82–77 victory for a winning start to the season. A total of 4,019 spectators witnessed the exciting matchup in person.

Professional sports lighting plays a critical role in every game. It helps athletes track every pass, enables referees to make accurate calls, and allows broadcast cameras to capture every highlight with clarity.

As a company specializing in sports lighting, we were proud to take part in the lighting system upgrade at Huai’an Sports Center Gymnasium. This article reviews the project’s design approach, key technologies, and broader value for the sports venue industry.

Project Scope and Design Objectives

Huai’an Sports Center Gymnasium is a large, multifunctional sports venue capable of hosting basketball, badminton, trampoline, and other professional events. Its lighting system needed to meet demanding requirements:

• Basketball events required broadcast-quality illumination suitable for major national and international competitions.

• Badminton courts required professional-grade lighting for competitive play.

• The system needed to support different operating scenarios, from high-level competitions to daily venue operations.

To meet these requirements, the project adopted our proprietary Seven Continents Smart Lighting Control System. Developed specifically for sports venues and protected by comprehensive intellectual property rights, the system provides an automated and flexible lighting management solution.

The system features a modular design, compact equipment, convenient commissioning, and customizable lighting scenes. Preset programs can be activated locally or remotely with a single click, while the system can also be expanded to connect with external equipment such as surveillance and audio systems. This open architecture provides strong adaptability for different venue environments.

Lighting modes can be selected according to operational needs, including:

• High-illuminance modes for nationally televised competitions.

• Professional training modes.

• Community fitness modes.

• Daily maintenance and venue operation modes.

This flexible approach accommodates the different lighting requirements of each activity while improving visual comfort, reducing energy consumption, and simplifying centralized operations.

At the precision-control level, the system supports continuous dimming from 0% to 100%. It delivers uniform, flicker-free illumination and can adjust lighting levels dynamically based on attendance. Areas without occupants can be automatically dimmed or switched off through the venue control system. Multiple lighting-show programs are also built in and can be activated instantly when needed.

Together, these smart lighting functions provide the professional visual environment required for major sporting events while significantly reducing day-to-day operating costs.
