Founded in July 1956, Guangzhou Sport University is the only undergraduate institution of higher learning dedicated to sports in South China, as well as one of the earliest institutions in the country to specialize in sports education since the founding of the People's Republic of China; it is affiliated with the People's Government of Guangdong Province.
